Just been able to buy a lantern I've been lusting after for a year and will be the centre piece of my collection.

Very nice!
I got a cheap self inflating mat from Lidl, no idea what it cost, but it must be cheap.
I was doing a shop for the food bank, and just threw it in the trolly. A full trolly plus the mat was still only £65 so I think I did well there.
Oh nearly forgot, new screwdrivers. Much needed!

A 5” Victorinox boning knife! Just waiting on a sheath from eBay so I can use it in the field. Ridiculously, the knife came in a massive cardboard box which the DPD driver found quite amusing once I told him what was in it!

Loads of kit I don' t really need, knowingly indulging in retail therapy when feeling a bit down.
e.g the most expensive item was a stainless steel oval US mess tin with the two-dish lid (but at sale discount price sir).
But I've got a genuine original with the battered aluminium lid.. so why?
Not sure, fear of losing or damaging something of sentimental value in the field maybe, mixed with wanting a nice new shiny with non-ally lid.

I really wanted to be away this weekend, under canvas and at a friendly bike rally. Van repair delays and work/home related pressures (guilt) meant I've binned it. I also fancied the Mind Moot but it's a no go - the insurance assessor has to come first, after I was rear-ended on my bike. Ho Hum, get stuck in and it will pass...

Two rusted to bejaysus small carpenters* hatchets down the market, at least one of which where the “sharp” end appears to have been used for hammering in nails. Will I ever figure out how to restore and sharpen them, hard to say.

*I have no proof the carpenters were small, just the hatchets.

Would be wasted on me.
Hans Römer Fabrik was a manufacturer of hiking and camping equipment in Neu Ulm (Bavaria). The company also manufactured equipment for the German military during WWI and WWII and continued to supply helmets (and possibly other equipment) to the Finnish army through the 1950s.

Been 1939 and 1965 Hans Römer personally financed the purchase and restoration of the ruins of Burg Hohengundelfingen in Baden Württemberg.

Wow Keith that’s interesting. I will have a read up now I got some thing to go on

Back from the offie with six oranges to press for juice (got lemons and limes yesterday), six cans of strong beer and six of small beer, a litre and a half of tonic water (instead of lemonade, I use that to make shandy), a bottle of rum and a stick of bread. Oh, and a tub of pistachio ice cream.

The ice cream is in the ice cube compartment of my garage fridge, which is quite a bit colder than is normal for a domestic fridge.
