Just been able to buy a lantern I've been lusting after for a year and will be the centre piece of my collection.

Very nice!
I got a cheap self inflating mat from Lidl, no idea what it cost, but it must be cheap.
I was doing a shop for the food bank, and just threw it in the trolly. A full trolly plus the mat was still only £65 so I think I did well there.
Oh nearly forgot, new screwdrivers. Much needed!

A 5” Victorinox boning knife! Just waiting on a sheath from eBay so I can use it in the field. Ridiculously, the knife came in a massive cardboard box which the DPD driver found quite amusing once I told him what was in it!

Loads of kit I don' t really need, knowingly indulging in retail therapy when feeling a bit down.
e.g the most expensive item was a stainless steel oval US mess tin with the two-dish lid (but at sale discount price sir).
But I've got a genuine original with the battered aluminium lid.. so why?
Not sure, fear of losing or damaging something of sentimental value in the field maybe, mixed with wanting a nice new shiny with non-ally lid.

I really wanted to be away this weekend, under canvas and at a friendly bike rally. Van repair delays and work/home related pressures (guilt) meant I've binned it. I also fancied the Mind Moot but it's a no go - the insurance assessor has to come first, after I was rear-ended on my bike. Ho Hum, get stuck in and it will pass...
