That’s not the story the news report gave - yours would have been better reporting.

The end of the news report highlighted the issue of similar sounding words or pluralisations in close proximity.
I think the main take home point is to take a paper map and compass and know how to use them!

A GPS unit can be set to numerous options but in the UK it is more usual to choose ‘British Grid’.
