Thought I'd show you all these turn shoes that I've been working on for a member of staff at the Jorvik Viking Centre in York.
This place............http://www.jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk/
It's been an interesting project as the chap in question has on foot larger than the other in width, but after much messing about I came up with these..................
They are made from 3mm Buffalo hide sewn on to a 6mm thick sole using artificial sinew. all the other stitching is done using waxed spun Hemp thread.
I like the uneven finish of the Buffalo hide as it gives them a period look and feel.
This photo give you an idea of the width difference..........
In fact I like them that much I'm going to make a pair for myself to potter about in:
Any comments welcome?
Cheers
Richard
