Quite simple; what in your opinion are the best three things in your kit? Not the sharpest, shineyest, newest, etc, but the ones you rate the most highly?

For me it's;

1) Berghaus mountain cap,
2) Sprayway Windbloc fleece,
3) Merrell Polartec/Gortex lined boots.

1)Knife
2)Warm sleeping bag or blanket
3)Something to treat water, probably a milbank bag and a billy in terms of versibility.

not necessarilly in order of needs, but I like a nice bed to kip in! :D

1. Crusader mug cookset (Mug, Stove, 58 Pattern bottle and hexy blocks) - a lot of people don't rate this, but I like it.
2. Swedish firesteel - 'cos you can impress people with all the sparks.
3. Sealskinz socks - 'cos I remember those days of leaky DMS boots and white, wrinkled feet.

Nine inch sameknife, my åsnes skis, and a recently aquired zebra billy (got it from TheViking). Just wanted to try it, but I'm hooked!

My top 3 (was a hard choice now with the seasons changing ...)

1) Hammock (in my case a Hennessy)
2) Knife / Parang (depending in geographical location)
3) Billy (of some sorts.. zebra, diy etc.)

Grtz Johan

Or would I go with a 1)poncho/tarp, 2)sleepingbag and 3)BIC lighter or with...aargh the list goes on and on ;-)

While they may not be my favorite pieces of kit or the flashy-ist, these 3 have stood the test of time. I have had them all since my early 20's, never needed to replace them, never thought of upgrading them, taken them on all my trips both domestic and abroard and never let me down..... ooo and they make a cracking cup of tea :D

1. 58 pattern water bottle
2. Crusader mug
3. Trangia meths burner
