You think its bad when the press makes mistakes. How about when a politically appointed comission, investigating a terrorist attack makes recomendations for new laws based in pure fantasy?
Here are some of the recomendations the comission that investigated the Utøya massacre in Norway came out with:
«Many semi automatic weapons can be modified into fully automatic weapons. This can happen by purchasing extra equipment like new magazines»
«A ban on the purchase of semi-automatic weapons and parts that can transform a conventional weapon (i.e: bolt action rifles) into a semi automatic weapons. »
Of course there were reactions...
– These are blatant factual errors. A semi-automatic weapon does not turn fully automatic by changing the magazine. Nor is it possible for an individual to rebuild a manually loaded weapon to semi-automtic says the hunting consultant of the Norwegian Hunting and fishing association.
-it's like saying that a car with a manual gearbox, becomes a car with an automatic transmission by replacing the tyres he gives as an example.
Also the president of the weapons comission, the organisation for the Norwegian weapons industry reacts on the information from the 22. july comission.
-The part about the magazines is clearly drivel. I would really like to know what parts can modify regular fire arms (bolt action rifles) to semi automatics. These are two entirely different construction, and no parts that I know about can change that, says Randulf Tønnesen

So this is the type of facts our politicians base their desitions on. And surprise , surprise. Semi auto weapons will be banned in Norway if the Government gets their way...well, we vote them out of office this autumn anyway. But the people likely to take over are the same type of nitwits so that won't help....
