Hi...

I guess someone in here have seen 'Thin Red Line'...? The one with Nick Nolte, Ben Chaplin, Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson etc. etc. etc.
What do you think of it?
I think it's great! :biggthump Exellent movie filled with stars, and there is so much philosophy in it!?! ;)

But what do you think? :biggthump

Shame that Hollywood had to nick or at least burrow the name of yet another British achievement in its effort to convince the world Uncle Sam will save it!

As for the movie - I thought it was only so so - Saving Private Ryan or even Platoon were better.

It's on at the minute, (ITV Uk) and I can honestly say that it's the only film I've ever left the cinema without seeing the end of, if it was about an hour and half long it may have been a passable watch as it stands it's the most turgid piece of pretentious, navel gazing celluloid gibberish I've ever had to endure.

BTW - I don't like it much

I went to see it when I was in the military with a couple of mates, we also left before the end because it was :***: . That is of course my opinion.

As Gary said there are better, but I would add to his list a TV series which was Band Of Brothers, which I would class as a must see for anyone. It is based on true life and has commentary at the beggining by the guys that were there. You cannot refute or dispute what they did :ekt: Very little fiction if any here guys :biggthump

With you there Leon Band of Brothers is excellent especially the winter in Bastion!!

Hi...

Yes i like Band of Brothers better that TTRL! Agree on that... Haven't seen Saving Private Ryan yet, but hope i'll do that soon.

Come on outthere? Isn't there anyone who likes it? :uu: :biggthump :-D
It's not a movie about war! I think it's an anti-war movie because it's about God and what he creates and destroys later. Example: at a moment when they walk in the jungle and bamboo, he says: "all though you are the source to all, what's gonna be born"..... (Or something like that).

So i'm gonna' head back and read some new posts now! :-D 8-)

I watched the movie a while ago. It wasn't the greatest movie, but I learned a little from it. My father was in the Pacific theater for the whole war. He had his problems, but I understood him better now.

Andy, if you get a chance there are acouple of other films that are quite good, one is Enemy At The Gates (heavilly dramatised for effect, but still quite good) and the other is Stalingrad. Stalingrad is the better of the 2 and is well worth the time sat and watching it, this is as far as war films are concerned.
