West Devon, Edge of Dartymoor!
I wonder if one was the inspiration for the other?
From Wikipedia
In 1999, the current Parkland High School on Cedar Crest Boulevard in Allentown was opened and the old Parkland High School on Orefield Road was renamed Orefield Middle School. When viewed from above, the layout of the current buildings and grounds closely approximates the shape of the Millennium Falcon, a spacecraft featured in the Star Wars films. School officials claim that the design was not deliberate.

seems to be a lot of parking spaces for a school..

Kids can drive at 16 over there and they probably have loads of parking for them, the teachers, plus sporting events and resistance meetings, stuff like that :D

How did I miss this thread?

Does make you wonder if the architect was a Star Wars fan and hoped his design would slip through the inspection net. I can imagine the high fives he got off his geek mates once it was approved.

I suppose another upside of that is that it could potentially be seen from space.

Nice one Southey, well spotted.

You're partly right; Spaces for teachers, parents and spectators at sporting events, etc. Not likely for students though; yes a DL is normal at 16 BUT this is a middle school so the oldest student would ony be 14 (15 if they failed a year)
