ok widu13. i can understand how upset you might be about the situation with dd...but you forgot to put the last thread that Irishlostboy put on that thread.and just so you don't have to look for it here it is

ok, quick review of the tenth wonder hamock.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tenth-Wonder-C... 42.m153.l1262
it arrived very quickly in the post.
it arrived in a plastic bad with a chinise dragon on it, and a logo with "DD" on it. i think they may be imitating someone elses product? lol
the hamock is folded flat, like a sheet, and the flat rope is not threaded into the hamock. its not hard to do yourself though.
the fabric used in the hamock is a more plasticy feeling, heavier nylon than the dd hamock, making it a slightly more heavy hamock (feeling anyway. i didn't weigh it). it is constructed in the very same way as the dd camping hamocks, only there is no zip closing the top and bottom layers. if you sleep on the top of both layers, this will be no problem i guess. i sleep "in" my dd camping hamock with it zipped up to my face, so i like the zip.
the stitching in the hamock is pretty messy and light. not as sturdy as my dd hamock.
the flat rope supplied is pretty much the same as in the dd hamocks. you only get two, eight foot lengths of it though. so its a tight fit. one of the ropes i recieved was damaged. looks like manufacturing fault. perhaps they buy in seconds from the rope manufactures? i dunno. not bad enough to make it un-usable. especially as i am light.
hamock does not ship with a bag to put the hamock in.

bottom line on the tenth wonder hamocks. they work. but you get what you pay for. the extra touch of quality of a dd camping hamock is worth the extra few quid, but if you are seriously strapped, this will do the job just fine.

i will try do up a proper review later on with pics and all that if it would help people.

back to me...what i know of dd they would not give you a hammock like that.and if they did they would replace it as soon as you got in touch with them.

SB, Just got back from being away. The initial post stated it was the same supplier so that grabbed my interest. I wasn't trying to undermine your hard graft but we all are look for the same product elsewhere, it's good for competitiveness. It's clear now that at best the tenth wonder is a copy of DDs. What has miffed me about this is that DD have held back on letting us know the info that they had obviously known about for some time. Although not in a rush, I would sooner have spent a few extra £s and got what I wanted direct from them at full price months ago when they had stock but at least I would have had them.

I am still keen on this- you'll remember I was the first one in for the GB. I (personally) prefer to have ALL of the info and base choices on that- we've enough of the nanny state already.

Any chance Nick will come up with definitive answer as to when these things will be back in stock and what products will be offered?

thanks for getting back to me widu13....i know you was the first (you can blame my wife for not pulling you out the hat),
your right about tenth wonder.....fair one.about being miffed about the hammocks...might be because nick and me were emailing more about the tarps and if they would be ready in time.
mind you the 2nd travel hammocks arrived during the gb...so i don't think nick held back that long from telling us.
ref the nanny state stuff.....theres no point passing on bad news till your sure that there is no over way of sorting it out.
i'll ask nick what the score is on the hammocks and tarps...mind you he reads this thread so he might get in touch with me...
and whatever the items that are offered are, they are going to be at full discount as nick has already promised

hi widu13...ok nick takes this one on the chin..heres is his reply...

I've seen 'widu13' last post on BCUK - I'd really hoped to get the problems sorted in time and obviously avoid what happened, which I'd believed would be possible - unfortunately I was wrong. Looking back I should have let you know sooner.

Regarding the new products and when they will be in stock - I cannot say for sure - it looks likely it will be some time away (over 6 weeks at least). I'm trying my best to get things sorted out and have them in stock asap (Travel Hammock and 2 sizes of light weight Tarps are the main products).

Good to have the update but sadly 'over six weeks at least' means we won't be getting the order in time for the Bushmoot.

I'll have a think on this as to whether or not I go ahead with my order as I was hoping it'd be available for then.

Received my tarp 1 and seconds travel hammock this morning. Just a couple of loose loops on the netting of the hammock, otherwise perfect.

Thanks for organising the group buy sandbag47, and for letting me join it late! :)

For anyone else worried about the seconds, don't be. A couple of minor repairs, and they're good to go.
