Dont know if it's been asked on here before, but i was wondering how many folks into bushcraft are tattooed.

the whole "natural" approach to living is contradicted somewhat by "getting some ink" i suppose..?

but then again the free spirited nature of living with the land also leans toward being tattoed,...?

just wondered, i should probably stick a poll on here to measure at a glance.

i my self am quite heavily tattooed i have,..

a Japanese koi sleeve.

a tribal arm,

a full Haida backpeice,

some celtic work

etc etc ,....

anyone else?

I'm inked too,
so is my wife and both daughters.

They of course have ones of meaning...mine are mostly turning into 'blurs'.
But then they're nearly 30 yr old.

(Went for a 13 but I got a 31)..;)

yes and no imo - putting ink into your skin to produce 'pretty patterns' is all well and good, and whilst most ancient 'tribes' probably had some form of body-marking i suspect most would have used the skins natural regenerative properties to produce the desired effect...

scarrification is still practised by many 'idigionous peoples' to mark the body for aesthetc / religious / cultural reasons, an adds nothing 'artificial' (in the way of inks etc) to the body, instead it uses a blade or point of some sort to induce injury, then lets the natural healing/scarring process inbed the design indliably...

i have a couple of DIY scars (and not of the accidental "i slipped whilst whittling" variety lol), nothing to compare to the expert work on display in the other tattoo thread, but as has been stated before, the process is addictive... :D

bits in '..' 's are there because i couldnt think of a better way of phrasing it atm :lmao:

I have been for over 30 years. Only ever regretted the "Love" "Hate" on my fingers as they are too deep to remove apparently. Just started having them again (where they can be covered up easily). Guinea pig as I bought some stuff and wasn't that good at it :( so my eldest daughter" long term borrowed" it  and she's a natural at doing it :35: . From her third one she was doing freehand :yikes: - balanced mirror imaged sides and super fine 1 needle lines. At least mines free now :) ,and authentic, as she designs them as well ;)
