I'm going to be spending this Saturday day and night on one of my permissions, and will be culling, butchering and cooking up one of the cockerels from my coop (I currently have 4 of the blasted things, and all they're good for is eating).

Anyone interested in joining me and perhaps (assuming you're interested) learning how to dispatch and butcher a chicken?

I am already spoken for by a lady this weekend, so would not be able to make it

Drill out the wedge from the top of the axe then just knock it back out, keeping as much as you can of the helve then you just copy the helve,

Ash is quite a good wood.. there is quite a bit of that at the site, also a nice English wood if you know what I mean, but the choice is really up to you...

Ok great, I will do that and drop it round to you soonest for de rusting cheers

No worries mate... I could bring another of the cockrels to the Feb meet if that sounds like an interesting "skill share".

Thats ok , we already have a skill share for Feb.. map and compass by Kevin.. I hoping that someone else will take a skill share for March and keep the theme going.

And try to make it more season orientated so we can work with the seasons.

Since I infuriatingly missed out on this month's meet (thus wasn't there to run the skill share).... what's of interest to people for March?

ohh.... now you've said that, Ive just realised........... I have no skills :(

Thats the idea bud new guys learn skills from the more experienced guys, and they in turn learn new skills from others... some where along the line, everyone learns from people that know from real life and not just you tube...

Think you will have more skills then you realise seeing your an engineer, they just need applying in a different way.... for example wood is a just different material to metal.. in some ways...

The subject is not yet decided for March, suggestions are still open to offers, and people to champion them, one suggestion I did wonder was Sap Collection as we will be near that time of year... but that depends on nature ect ect.. it may have to go over to April... for example......

I did wonder about putting a list of open skill share requests on the monthly meets for people to see, and if the fancied coming along and doing it for the group, they then just asked if they could... but doing that they would have to be reliable.. as it would bring interest from others outside the group.

Saying that I think that we may already have a 2nd skill share for Feb.. and it may over lap to March depending on birds nesting, and Sap rising....

Its called.... this will be one for Chris.... Coppicing.. !!

for those that were not at the last meet, I now have permission to start to Manage some of the Stalls of Hazel and Ash for our future use.

If thats still OK with you Chris.

and that of course will give us wood for other things like the shelter/ash bow staves/green carving wood, in years to come ect ect...

told you I thinking long term with this one :)

Ash bow stave would tickle me pink. Can never find wood anywhere that I can take.

I'd love a wild food skill share aug/sept
