I found one of my grandads old axes a few weeks ago, It looks a bit knackered, the cutting edge nearest the handle is well worn and the handle is slightly split, next time I see Stu I was going to ask some advice if I would be able to refurb it or if it was too worn out. Its a bit big for a camping axe as the handle is about 1 meter long ish but It would be nice to save it. I don't like waste

All axes can be refurbed, the helve may not be salvageable but a new one is quite cheap or use the original as a template and make a new one

oh right, I wasn't sure how far up the axe head was hardened, although I suppose if it was ground too far back, it could always be hardened again. As you can tell I don't know much about axes.

This is why the two opinel restorations/mods have been on hold until I have more patience and time off from University work!!

How do you carve an axe handle without an axe? I haven't got an axe yet. It's like chicken and egg lol

This company retails ration packs, they are the same menu's as the current issue ones as they make them, they can be found cheaper else where but this will give an idea of the menu's, there's 20 normal plus veg and halal options http://www.beyondthebeatentrack.co.uk/ration-pack/24-hour/meat-menus.html

It's very hard to find them cheaper but you can sometimes find them pop on amazon and other sites for around £16 but you have to be quick. It's one of those thigns, they're just expensive.
