Ski Jumping on Hampstead Heath, 1950

Here we see a ski jumping competition held on Hampstead Heath, which included a team of 25 Norwegian competitors and over 45 tons of imported snow, packed in wooden boxes insulated by dry ice.

Maybe some more snow could be imported for Bushmoot?!

Great stuff, I was trying, without success, to work out where on the heath it was held.

Thanks for that. London County Council was a great institution. Terrific nerve the jumpers had, imagine coming off the narrow snow track and tumbling down the boards.
