Show me your axe covers.

I have just picked up a Fiskars splitting axe from Clas Olsen which seems like a good tool but comes with a very nasty plastic axe cover.

I know it's unusual for me to prefer a tool made from modern materials but I've had so many splitting axe handles broken for me in the past that this seems a good idea. Added to that I tried one out at Middlewood and it's definitely the best performing splitter I've used.

Anyway, I'm going to make a new cover for it but was wondering what kinds of solutions were already out there. No point re-inventing the wheel.

So I'd like to see all sorts of axe covers, home made or commercial and this might be a useful thread for others looking for inspiration too.

I haven't made an axe cover for ages and then just yesterday i was asked to make one as part of a set, (knife sheath, sharpening stone pouch, saw sheath, axe mask and matching belt), so i was just looking at some pics tonight.
