Shot my first partridge today

Had our beaters day today and shot my first partridge, well chuffed! Just thought i'd share it...

But then missed an even easier partridge 30 seconds later

I seem to be better at the "snap shot" type shots, and not where you have ages to line up on the bird.

Missed some absolute sitters, loads of crossing pheasant, but hey ho thats all the fun of it.

They are delicious birds but fast and silent flyers - none of the din that a pheasant makes before it takes off. On the other hand they take less shot than a pheasant to bring them down.

Much much nicer to eat than pheasant - sweeter and moister. Enjoy.

How do you plan on cooking it?? Pan fried me some pigeon breasts with white wine and shallots for lunch...tasted amazing!
