I somehow forgot to take a photo of the before picture, but I started out with one of these:

Anyhow, I carried one of these knives almost everywhere I went since I was seven. I opened oysters with them, carved little bows and arrows, etc.
I had recently sharpened it with a file, and it was really sharp, but the spring started to work worse and worse, and one of the pins had fallen out, so I decided to rehandle it.
The scales came of very easily, as there was no glue involved.
All the components of the knife together:

The spring, as it turned out, had a groove worn into it, so I had to file it back to normal.
Next, I split a piece of antler for scales:

I know. I got to buy a bandsaw.
I also need a belt sander, because I now had to file them to make them flat.

Then I flattened them with some sandpaper:

Hardest part is over:

Here I've drawn out the shapes and marked where the holes are going to be using the knife's liners.

First try, to see if it will fit. 'Life is complicated' was the main thought

After a lot of trying and filing (and glue and brown powder to cover up mistakes
), here is the finished product:

This is the sheath I always used for this knife. I didn't make it. I bought it from a market in southern France once. It says 'Artisan Francais' on the back, and it can be carried sideways and upright. I think it's great.

On my belt, next to my camera. My favourite dog walking EDC.

Tools used were files, sand paper, and a drill. It was just enough to keep me from going crazy during the school test week.
