...Food Illustrated magazine. I've just got back from holiday and done a Waitrose search (I can't be @r$ed to go through 400+ posts) so I don't think it's been started as a thread.

Each month the mag features a well known individual on the last page and talks about their culinary inclinations. the June one features Mr Mears...do you think he likes or hates Marmite?

I can photocopy the page for anyone who can't get their hands on it.

I know that he hates brussel sprouts and loves big mac's.

Did anyone see him on the Graham Norton show the other night?
He demonstrated fire by bow saw and.............FAILED:eek:
he had to resort to using a fire steel and striker on some Birch bark. So he is human.;)

Also Graham was giving him a bit of stick saying, bush tucker must have plenty of calories in it as he is a bit round:p

but what did impress me about his fire lighting was he knew the fire bow would not work!

anyone want to explain that ????
it left me puzzeled

I remember him saying that the leaves on set weren't real and had something to do with it. I felt sorry for RM, Graham was a bit of a d**k and Dame Edna Everage took over the entire show!
If I was RM I'd be a bit annoyed that I had wasted my time coming onto a show where I wasn't even interviewed, just rolled out to make a fire and be talked at.

I'll have a look out for the Waitrose magazine, I'm sure there's a Waitrose around here somewhere...

Waitrose.... Man and I thought Ray was down to earth :(
Waitrose shoppers are something else, they are like Marks and Spenser food shoppers only worse.

:lmao: Nice one. Nothing like sterotyping people by where they buy food.

Can you put all the supermarkets in order (and also include other places like market, farm shops etc) so we can adjust our food purchasing to fit in the right bracket as 'bushcrafters'.

Blimey. Whatever next. :lmao:

I would assume that he has used the set before and knows it works, and went through all the normal motions that he goes through and it wasn't showing signs of happening.

If you've done it enough times you know when it work and when it won't.

Also, I'm sure he could have made it work eventually, but he didn't have unlimited time...

He also said something about the leaves, from which I gathered that he meant the leaves were damp / cold - perhaps the set was left in the leaves and picked up moisture from the leaves.

Well bushcrafters aught to be shopping DJ`s in Hyde. You queue round the shop for an hour and pick up mega cheap crap with foreign labels on it thats all six months out of date. Honestly you can do a months shopping for £5.
It emulates wild foraging - "is this going to poison me or isnt it?"

That sounds just my thing, lidis and aldis doesnt come close (but you can go in and come it with a full trolley and none of it be on your list, which is surley the point of supermarkets)

We are too lowbrow for a waitrose round here
