Last night tried to find what I had done with my petzl head torch after the weekends trip out. Looked all over the usual places, then ran over where I'd last seen it. Attached to the inside of my tarp at the weekend. Unpack the tarp, and yep, there it is still hanging off one of the loops inside the ridge...

Am guessing this is one of those things where you've either done this, or you will do this at some point...

I spent a good 45 minutes yesterday stomping around cursing at myself looking for my (God knows why) only 4B pencil in the house, gave up literally furious with myself wiped sweat from my brow and knocked the pencil from behind my ear. I wish i could blame age related mind issues but i am just a youngster

I've done the same thing with my UKPK. Searched high and low for days like a raving loon and then going out and buying a replacement plus back up just in case it happens again. 24 hours later, the lightbulb in my head goes off and I remember I put it in my jacket pocket after I used it to cut loose cotton off my cuff.

Been there, done that. I ended up leaving a tiny LED torch - one of hte keyring ones - attached to the inside of my tent on a permanent basis and then I always have a source of light when I put up the tent.

I had a similar great plan like yours Cranmere, i attached a small led to my sleeping bag hood for easy nighttime access and then went and put the whole thing in the washing machine and killed the light, again wishing i could blame my age here

I do the same, got one in my bug net hammock too. Always handy.

I may have left my mobile phone in the mesh pocket of my tent once or twice .

Glad to know I'm not alone. GGTbod, I tend to poke pens and pencils through my hair to hold them rather than behind the ear, only to then get them all tangled in the brush when I forget they are there later...

My house mate at uni used to walk into exams with all his pens stuck through his beard...

If hair is in a pony tail, then sticking pens and pencils through it to hold them is very effective... Just less so when you forget and go to brush them out...

The options women have for temporary storage of items are much wider than those of men...

At a music festival last year, as usual I hang my glasses with the lantern in the 6 man tent. My girlfriend decided to take the tent down early while I was wandering around and didn't spot the glasses.

I spent ages looking for them and when I finally realised what happened (I might of suffered a bit in the sun). I was surprised the glasses and the lantern were okay after being packed up and thrown in the car.

D1 is doing her Bronze DofE tomorrow. When she did her practice walk she wouldn't borrow any of my kit for fear of breaking a rule or other. How a long walk changed all that! Tomorrow I would be lucky to have kit enough left to make a brew!

A mate of mine managed to pack his car keys in his tent when packing up after Reading festival a few years ago, glad I was driving myself as it took him 2 hours longer to get home :)

I spent about a week looking for one of my torches a few years ago. Only for it to turn up in the boot of my car.

I swear I didn't put it there!!! PIXIES I TELLS YA.

Couldn't find my old army clasp knife, issued to me 40 years ago, I turned my kit inside out looking for it, could I find it, NO.

Packing up to move house, I found it, where in a box in my wife's wardrobe, question how did it get there, still got it back, this time I think it was either the pixies or a borrower!
