Sunny Wales!
Well, I was introduced to this non native (extreme northwards) plant last week and its a very odd thing.

As the name suggests, it has the texture of Sea Aster, but tastes identical to fresh oysters. Not similar, indentical :p

Anyone else tried it, or even found some locally?

I found some of this when visiting Orkney (South Ronaldsay) last summer and thought it looked very interesting, with pretty small blue flowers and fleshy leaves, but I didn't try to eat it. Wish I had. Does it need cooking, or what?

Thanks for the reply. I had all but given up on this one!

y0dsa, no, I ate the leaf as-is. I could see it going down a storm for the restaurants with a foraged sushi style dish.

Woodstock, looking forwards to your findings.
