Hello, I know this topic comes up from time to time- but what do you currently carry in your overnight kit ?
If you went out for the night tonight what would you take including food, amount of water, and the obvious... kit ? :)
I know there are old threads but peoples kit changes and also the weather..
The kit for me shouldn't be too minamalist/basic as i like to be comfy when camping, but comfort includes not carrying a 30kg pack into camp :D
Thank you

My kit is the same as Shewies just different manufacturers.I also take a tarp just in case it rains.I always carry a knife of some sort ,mostly a swiss champ unless I'll be in woodland when I'll take a bushy clone.
It's good to go with as little kit is safe because you learn how to do without it and make use of what';s around you.

And don't forget a bag to take your rubbish home in!

I dont take a bin bag as i put my tinned food into pour and store bags and the rest of the packets i put into the side pocket of my rucksack.

I may throw in a pack of wetwipes but for cleaning i use a small towel and for pot cleaning i use a steel wool scourer as i only have ss pots

Berghaus Alpine Extreme pack (1.6kg and will carry up to 28kg in severe pain but is great for sub 9kg as it is a proper alpine climbing sack if a bit old now)
Kathmandu Basha
Rab SZ bivvy
TAR prolite 3 full length
Primus micron with PZ ignition
Vargo Ti-lite pot/mug
Primus gas can (100g lasts me 6 or 7 days)
Primus can feet
lighter as backup with matches and LMF or vango firesteel (ferro rod)
Golite quilt (3 season down to -7C comfort rated
silk bag liner (well got to have a little luxury occasionally)
TAR pillow (a good night's sleep is worth a 100g or so weight)
Ti crook pegs x 12 plus 2 x Alloy Y stakes
Dyneema guy line (2mm) with mini linelocks
Dehydrated meal
Options hot choc sachet
Several 3 in 1 Kenco coffee tubes
Platypus 2 litre bladder with drinksafe eliminator filter
BD head torch
Long handled spoon Ti of course
Pack of cards
ear plugs just in case of snoring (better than murdering your mate I think)
Sit mat (CCF)
Warm layer - light softshell fleece I'd carry on a day walk anyway in warm weather or a generator smock in cooler conditions or just now.
BAseball cap for sun and beanie for cold and to sleep wearing as the quilt has no hood to it.

I think that is it, except for all those little bits you always carry that you don't need. I know my first trip last weekend I carried a lot more and my sack must have been over 10kg. I did have 4 litres of water as I forgot my eliminator filter was. The above should be a lot less than 9kg. I have got down to 6kg once but that was really minimal and the alloy staves in my sack were left behind. I won't do that for normal trips.

BTW this kit is the same for long trips as for short trips except the food that is. My goal is to have less than 6kg kit. It is for fell camping away from trees BTW. I do carry a SAK cyber tool and a mora

just had a quick rummage through my bag which was still packed from a one-nighter a fortnight ago and found;
coleman sleeping bag
gore-tex bivi bag
head torch
small FAK
mora clipper
a couple of lengths of fake paracord (maybe 10metres all told)
shemagh
fleece top
brew kit
water bottle
mug
home made billy can

i would also have had pouch on my belt with;
tobacco and lighter
ferro rod and striker
LED lenser v2 (one of the originals, gonna update this soon i think)
candle
length of sisal

that's not in any way a set list, it was just what i grabbed on the day, the purpose of the night out was to give me an excuse to go for a decent walk to check out a new rucksack

edit to add: i presume i took some food with me too, but can't for the life of me remember what it was

How'd the new pack treat you?
for me an over nighter is an excuse to play with any new toys i may have laid my grubby mitts on since the last timei went out so it can vary tremendously, another factor is if i am experimenting with set ups etc.
i am trying to minimise my kit again but seem to sneak more in when i am not looking :lmao:
usually its karrimor predator tecmac 50 holding
shelterwoodlore sleeping bag, DD hammock 3x3m tarp, army sup bivi bag, therma rest clone.
sharp and pointyRM bushcraft knife with spark stick and dc3 sharpening stone, laplander folding saw, outdoor axe if i am walking SFA if i am getting a lift
eating and drinking crusader cup, crusader mess tins, sewdish army trangia billy, plastic kuska, spork fhoon (although i have recntly reverted to tradtional knife fork spoon) brew kit(tea, coffe, hot choc, sugar and tea spoon) grub of some sort or another sometimes ration packs sometimes fresh ingredients, honey stove, meths, trangia burner clone
spare clothing swanndri shirt, norgie shirt, shemagh, wooly hat(all through the year) spare socks and undercrackers
random gubbins first aid kit, head torch, carving jack, monocular, books (one fiction and one referance), spare pipe and tobacco, boris the badger, lighter, pocket knife

As you can see i am not doing to well on the miminising of my kit :)
