Now that is cool.
I'll be definitely doing these if there's enough snow down here this year...
Just brilliant

Right… so after a weekend of testing, the BT-2 isn't a viable option…. aside from the fact that I got somewhat damp in the structure, there is no way in world I can fit my kit, my stove and me in the shelter, and still function. It isn't going to happen.

The camping cot was amazing, so comfortable, but as discussed with TPete, its too heavy and not practical… so I'll go with the mats, and I need a bivvy bag for the sleeping bags I've got.

Shelter wise, I appreciate what TPete has said about sharing, but I've already gone the 2nd hog, bought a stove…. so now I need to find a shelter to match. I'll haul the gear, no worries… I want to be comfortable out there… particularly for the fact that we're having a prolonged base camp approach.

After talking to TPete, the alcohol is out of the window, not happening for me… I'll abstain for a few days rather than take unnecessary risks… its the risk to others first that is my concern… and I understand better the rotation needed to maintain camp. A fountain of knowledge is TPete… very pleased we got to spend the weekend together.

So shelter. Boots. They are my priorities for a week. 7 days from now I hope to have both sorted.

I'm looking at a pair, but not sure of the sizing, they are UK 9.5 and I take an 8, I'm thinking a couple of pairs of socks, or will I not need the socks ?

I wear 2 pairs as standard. A thin sports pair and a thick pair (Bridgedale summit) which are wool. I went for a size up and they fit me well with the socks as above and boot liner they are bloomin tosty. Rated to -70 i think. Be aware though they are not like a normal lace up boot. The fit is loose but very comfortable but have not got much support so no good for moutains etc. My back up boot is a pair of Lower mountain boots. Just in case i get a dunking that is.

Hope that helps mate.

Think i payed about $130 delivered with import charges payed. They look good. Big old things though of course to allow for the liner. I tried to get spares but they have none.

I can't find the exact pair to look at the specs of the boot, are these waterproof in any way, breathable ? just an afterthought. They are the thirtytwo fall 2014 if that means anything ????
