Hi again, Had a nice time with Globetrotter today, loads off mooching around!
we found the "log cabin" but it was in bits. some kids had made it with bailer twine and old rope and had chucked 6" of soil on the roof which had colapsed, more of a "bunker" than a "log cabin".

here is our Bushcraft lunch:
fromcameranew004.jpg

My chicken curry with pita bread! (on my petrol stove)
and Globetrotter's noodles and meatballs (on the hobo stove).

and heres or afternoon tea break camp, Hobo stove again (right) nice area you could get quite a large group meet here and no one would see it! especially in summer.

note the 2 O.G. PLCE Bergens at rear!:)

Nice day, cheers Globetrotter! (oh, and for washing up!)

Despite the early rain, I managed to get a few geocaching bits down in the woods then freeing my day up to look for flytipping rubbish etc. 4 big tyres dumped and the odd crisp packet, not so bad. So I went looking for fungi .

Then a walk along the path whilst waiting for anyone else to arrive

Well I have just had a nice slightly sweet mug of Hot chocolate. I brought some cadburys highlight vending machine chocolate 1kg bag, I used 3 heaped teaspoons and think the next cup will have a little less. Approx 55 mugs of drink from the bag. Less packaging too.

on the hot choc theme, Asda do a box of own brand "frothy" (8 sachets for 98p).

I'm back to normal now, thanks for asking. even ran for a while with my rucksack yesterday. feeling fine, still carefull whilst at work but I perhaps should have been long before my op:eek:

Well, If anyone gets a spare Day, Morning, or even a few hours, to tell us and we'll try to meet up.

On the MRE front...I've tried them...Main thing to remember is they are designed as single meals not 24hrs!

on the plus side you get some wierd and wacky contents.
the MRE's I tried had:
"Peanut butter" in a foil sachet.
"cheese" in a foil sachet.
"Grape jelly" (jam)in a foil sachet.
"Freeze dried fruit salad" and even "Ice cream" just add water.
I've heard of "dried meat pat'e" :yuck:
strange cardboard fold out stands to keep the packet upright once cooked,
plus a few small items like salt, T.P., matches, sweets.
I still have a tiny 1" bottle of tabasco!

sadly alot of the bulk of the MRE used to be packaging, all the foil packets came in thin cardboard boxes, plus the wierd folding stand.
some of it is nice but also remember it's aimed at the American taste...so Burgers, high sugar and fat ...or in other words it's the Macdonalds of the army ration world! still nice to try once a while as you say!

4 minutes to eat an MRE?
that's gotta be bad for you! it takes 5 minutes just to get into all the packets:lmao:

Just discovered that Blacks have opened at the back of the inns in Norwich near game and the mall, most items reduced.
what? Blacks? as in "Mac"?

Managed to get a Genuine Large ALICE pack today! £15
My copy one wasn't so good really, it's in the "swap shop" area if anyone wants a swap.

Good price.Im really pleased with mine..took me a while to find it at hoopers, had to burrow in the corner like a mole!

Yup, I was there today, literally climbing over stuff (you can picture the corner now), moving stock to find the pile, whilst this happened my 8 yr old son kept putting his head round the corner wearing a different helmet or gas mask each time!
it's the way surplus shops should be! :approve:
some nice new Bushcrafty looking hunting knives downstairs in leather sheaths!

I thought all the Blacks were closing from previous threads?
You boys seem top have a nose for a bargain.
