I should probably say that I have most of the clothes and equipment bookmarked and stuff, but I'm not ready (because of work and not being able to drive) to head out for a couple nights practicing some skills. Plus it's gonna be freezing over the next few months and I wanna wait till it's warmer. I have a rucksack (lk35), a cheap morakniv, ferro rod and steel, a tent and sleeping bag lying around somewhere here.

I would suggest getting out for a few hours in the cold even if not over night, test your kit and find out what works for you. It's surprising how much a candle lantern can warm a small tent.

If you should want to sleep outside during winter, the best is to get a sleeping bag that is rated accordingly, and a thicker insulating mat.
James, I too would wait until it gets warm again. To begin your bushcrafting hobby in winter is tough.
Nicer when it is nice and warm!

Yes, but the next weekends should be no problem.

Every thing over 0*C should be possible even with a simple equipment.

Just wear your clothing of the day in the sleeping bag if it is lighter than 1,5 kg and put a folded blanket unter your sleeping bag, if you don't have an insolation mat.

(But put off the water proofs when you go in the sleeping bag.)

If you own equipment, just take it and try it out!
See, that you let a way back open, so you can run away, if you should get any problems.

If you aren't to far away from your car or from home you can go home if you have a torch and spare batteries with you.

If it's to cold, you can also sit the night next to the fire and go home and sleep at home in the morning.

I recommend to try it out as soon as possible. Next to the fire you can sleep in a summer sleeping bag till 0*C.

If its uncomfortable take a blanket more next time.
