RWL34 and /or 01 for me!
Please let us know how this turns out.
By the way, what is your makers mark on your knives?
Not sure I have ever seen it!?
My best.
Chris.

Yes i will let you know buy the end of the week. It will be one stainlessteel and i dont think it will be 440C and then it will be two carbonsteels.
Yes RWL 34 is a great steel and as said before CPM154CM is a variation on it :D. In the begining i had seved punched on the blade and still have on the sheats leather that is. Then i had S.H engraved on them, After that i engraved it myself, but it didnt look so nice so i have stop do that. Maybe i will start etch it. I have never stamped or engraved my coated blades.:D

I have no idea what steel mine is made of, apart from the fact its from a recycled leaf spring from a lorry that wandered around India and Nepal. It does fill the essential critea though in that it gets sharp and stays sharp.

Its probably 5160 much of the springs in cars are 5160. Is leafsprings those springs with layers of steel that clamps to package, not the round ones that is used in "regular" cars.

D2 is a great steel IMHO - I have a spyderco folder in it and I'm impressed. It does patinate but holds a wicked edge for quite some time.

I also like VG10 as my custom F1 holds a silly edge for a remarkably long time.

CPMS30V and RWL34 are also favourites of mine.

RWL34 for me too on this model.
I have loads of 01 knives,great stuff,but have you tried RWL34?
There are other knife steels out there!
C da C.

Yes i think D2 can be a great steel. I have never tested it So i will now. I probably not going to make the bushcraft in it. But a simular i will use it on. I am working on it now. Interesting that you say so, becouse i had a discussion on a nother forum about CPMD2 and a litle CPM154. He said it didnt get so sharp(D2), but i didnt belive him.
Yes VG10 is great but they dont sell just the steel:(. RWL 34 is the same as CPM154CM and that is the ss steel i going to use for the bushi. RWL 34,CPM154CM, ATS 34 and CM154 is about the same steels. Its just that ATS34 and CM154 is not powdersteels.

O1 is a nother great steel and it looks like i going to use it for this one.

The voting is finished. It looks like this. I going to make it in CPM154CM as a stainlees option and then in two carbonsteels. O1 and 26C.
