Chatting to someone earlier as they asked me what I was listening to while working - at the time a Romanian rock radio station.

Started talking about what else I like to listen to and the realisation that I listen to a bit of an odd mix.

I use music to enhance my mood, in whatever form that is. Sometimes I need calm and to be centred or to get a bit more fired up. Maybe just a bit more cheery.

My extremes.

Calm

Obviously I listen to more than just those songs with plenty more variety inbetween. :D

I need music to work. I find my mind starts wandering off if I don't. It puts a ring around my thoughts.

I love this by Ford Hallam and if you've never seen it before, try find the time. (watch it in HD, if your screen will take it!)

The work is mystifying and inspires me but I realise I could not work like that all the time. I would just start thinking about the next project / whatever.

You? :D

I always use Time by Pink Floyd to give me a kick up the arris.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to nought
Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way
The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say

Fat and Frantic are always the first song in the playlist for my morning commute. Lively and fun.

Then Florence and the Machine, SLF, Harry Chapin, all sorts really.

Varies, as I type I've 'Tea For The Tillerman' playing in the background. Hours time it might be a bit of David Sanborn.

If the lead guitar isn't struggling to be heard over the bass then the song's probably not worth listening to.
Here's what I was listening to on Itunes when I read this post.
