Yeah, but you're still at the online equivalent of a private party. If you get a bit carried away and the hosts ask you to chill out a bit because you're upsetting or annoying the other guests, howling about it just makes you look like a ******.

You do not have an unlimited right to say or do anything you like here, no matter what the forum description may say. This is not your own home - we're all guests here. Show some manners.

The 'show some manners' remark is uncalled for.

I'll leave it now.

You're complaining about how your hosts are running the party - that's incredibly rude.

This isn't a party, it's a public forum.

The owner of the forum has invited the public to comment here with the requirement that they abide by the rules. I abide by the rules as much as you or anyone. What rule did HillBill break? If it was the pm comment then he was led by a mod to believe his comment was correct.

I was merely commenting on a thread about moderation that I thought sometimes moderators would help matters if they took a step back from the actual debate and just moderated if and when rules were breached. Just an idea, that's all.

I browse a few forums, bushcraft ones and others but this one stands out for the confrontational and inflammatory remarks like yours that are casually posted. The 'in crowd' or the clique, whichever, is quick to belittle, intimidate and confront those that they feel don't merit their respect.

This site would be all the richer and more enjoyable if it's more established members were nicer to it's members who are less so.

I really will leave it now.

I have no inclination to argue with you on this issue. So, I'll state it plainly. If you continue to stir the pot and flame the mods, I will deal with it quickly. This is NOT a public forum. It is a private forum. It's not your tax dollars at work here. And if you don't like it, you can leave or be escorted quickly to the door. So, MIND YOUR MANNERS.

From General Community Rules and Guidelines:

Admin and Moderators on bushcraft uk will use the rules and their own judgement to moderate. They have full authority to act when & how they see fit and all members should abide by what they suggest or enforce. Due to bushcraft uk being a private forum the admin and moderators act on behalf of the owner and enforce the rules and standards set out here and those given to them verbally.

Guidance for members: Abide by the decisions of the moderators, do not argue or challenge them on the forums. If you disagree with a decision contact them or admin via PM and state clearly and politely your concerns and they will be dealt with.

Seems pretty clear to me.

I'd like to thank the Mods too. Everyone of them do a fantastic job and don't get anything back for it. (except the odd bit of abuse) They are first and foremost members too, but have to spend time trawling through threads they may not necessarily be interested in, wheras we non-mods can take our pick of what we want to read or contribute to.
I admit myself I get a bit carried away sometimes, and maybe get a bit close to over stepping the line. Several times I've posted something on the spur of the moment when I've been a bit grumpy or agitated, only to regret it later. I've been man enough to apologise on some of those occasions I hope. Over the years people have listened to my woes and given me some great advice on bushy and personal stuff and It is all very much appeciated. I hope a few times I've managed to give something back too.
I think the Mods let an awful lot of stuff go, and sure sometimes it may seem that a thread may get closed for what seems a trivial thing, but they're only human too, and the vast majority of the time the Mods are spot on.

So thanks Mods, and keep up the good work. It's very much appreciated :drive: :You_Rock_
