I don't have one in my garden but this is the hammock set-up at my Sister-in-Laws house that I often use to chillax with a bottle or two of cold beer :cool:

My S.i.L husband made this from scratch, and it is really stable..couldn't fault it!

Ok here's what I ended up with;

50mm waste pipes concreted in to the ground at a depth of around 450mm as shown here

I was given some metal tubing which slotted inside the waste pipe pretty snugly but wasn't as strong as scaffolding tubes as i found out when they ...emm slightly bent under load. However i straightened them up and inserted other metal tubes inside these to double the strength and hey presto it worked.

There is still a slight bend in the poles when I lie in it but so far so good. If I was doing it again I'd definitely go for the scaffolding poles, might still do.

I made a flat panel of netting and tied the ends to a 3' length wood dowel. I strung a length of cord between the ends of the dowel and through one edge of the net to form a back support. Tony

I made the net from braided nylon cord using a 2 1/8" gauge. 34 meshes across x 46 meshes deep. I can hang it on any sturdy overhead support. Tony
