Just how nasty is deet ?

I'm thinking of spraying my Blackbird hammock with some Nomad Travel spray, does anyone know if it will just disintegrate the nylon no-see-um netting ?

I sat and watched the evil scottish midge pull itself through the weave of the mesh last weekend. Never had it before but they were certainly getting in.

Just remembered the Nomad stuff is permethrin, same question though

DEET will break down /melt synthetics
Use Permithrin for all clothing Not Body/Skin

Dont do it mate it melts plastic and rubber so i think it will do an injury to your hammock.

Don't use DEET on any man made fabrics...I've had the scales & romers melt off issue compasses with that stuff:yikes:

and best of all, it seems to work for me, and normally if there's something that can bite within a 50m radius, it'll find me.

If you have a scrap of linoleum put a drop on it and watch what happens. I try and avoid it altogether if I can!
