Just add water.....

My kids liked the burgamix stuff too. I think it was nicer than the sosmix.

I tried the Alternative stores mix, but I think sosmix has the edge still.

I used to carry a dry mix of rolled oats and flour (we had a thread on oats a while back didn't we?). It makes a filling snack.

Equal quantities of rolled oats and flour of your choice (I use plain flour and carry some baking powder if I want it to be lighter). Before adding water, mix in either savoury or sweet ingredients. Just add enough water to make a dough. Dollop a spoonful onto the cooking surface and press flat. Cook on a skillet or thick frying pan turning just once. They can be made before the trip but are much nicer cooked fresh.

Savoury - salt and any combination of pepper, spices, herbs, chopped cheese etc.
Sweet - (a little salt), sugar, dried fruit, nuts etc.
Figs, honey and pistachio spring to mind with this recipe. Might just give that a try, thanks!

Full on pancake batter in a container and try and keep it cool. Not quite what you were after, but mmm pancakes!
Find a squeezy bottle with a nozzle and put the batter mix in that. It's easier than a tupperware type container to stash in your kit. If you get a freezeable wine bottle sleeve, you can put it around the bottle and wrap it in a towel to keep it cold for longer?

I'm a wierdo and avoid food in plastic, so glass jar for me. Travel light... pah!

Pancake batter freezes without harm so you can enjoy it later in a trip, and it will help keep other provisions cool in the meantime.

Do you know what else freezes well, and carries well too ?
Biscuit dough.
Ginger nuts, cinnamon rolls. The dough is made, rolled up, wrapped in tinfoil or freezer paper, and it'll keep for months. Thaw it out slice it up while still chilled and bake yourself some biscuits :)
Easy enough to do at camp too, just use a plate inside a couple of billies or if you have a bake stone, just pop a pot over the top of the biscuits to bake as though in an oven :)

Hard to go wrong with gingernuts and a cuppa :)

My Mother gave me her Dairy Book of Home Cookery when I was a student, which suggested doing just that. So I did. I made bulk amounts of biscuit dough sausages of various flavours and froze them. Easy matter to bake a fresh batch every couple of days.

The sustenance was much needed during my three years of cycling/walking/kayaking on Dartmoor intensive study and lectures.
