How many times do you watch a film after you have bought it on DVD or blu-ray?

Once only, unless it's a classic.
I've seen some films such as Saving Private Ryan a few times over the years, but I've been blessed with a P-poor memory!
My book shelf has several duplicate purchases and sometimes I'm halfway through a book before I think there's something familiar about it!

So many films are over-hyped rubbish that I always prefer to rent them on my Apple Tv or Love Film etc.

Same with me on saving private ryan. Everytime I see it I notice something new.

LOL!

I generally buy only boxed sets new, things like firefly or the rome series I watch several times a year

good dvds i buy from the local used dvd/game store, but only if im sure they will be a repeat watch, running out of shelf space tho as have several hundred dvds

if im not sure, the skygo or divx for one offs

Al

I only buy stuff Im sure I will watch more than once

Or a car boot, but its the same old horror junk. (a totally unscary genre that makes me either laugh like mad or purse my lips in dissaproval...I am a Tengu after all.)

What is it with Horror fans that they must have clearouts? Why cant Anime fans be the same????

(goes off to sulk.)

I have a selection of DVDs divided into two sections, those I call old freinds which get viewed over and over again. Seen Memphis Belle about 15 times. Saving Private Ryan about the same, Mad Max trilogy I lost count of, same with The Matrix. Then on the other side of my collection os my watch once and put it in a trade pile to take back to the UK on my next trip, or they get added to the old friends pile for watching again at a later date. Amongst the second piles I have a lot of unwatched DVDs I traded for which looked good but I just haven't got around to seeing yet. Always next week though.

I am currently taking all my DVDs out of their cases and putting them into CD wallet folders with the covers in clear A4 wallets. Figured I'dreduce the storage space I have by 10 fold... least that's the plan

Be careful with that. I tried it (with a good quality wallet too) and found that some of them got damaged. Some looked they had been scrubbed and that was a bit mysterious given it was a good quality wallet and the wallet wasn't getting moved around much. That might be a strange one off though.

I buy my movies as VHS from charity shops :)
The ones I do not want to watch more than once go back to charity shops.
OK - I do not get to see many of the latest films - but not many coming out these days seem worth buying anyway.
I do get the odd DVD - gifts at Xmas, birthdays etc and these tend to be interesting ones (RM, Gawleta, Bush tucker man, Into the Wild, Randy Nora and the Dustmen etc) which are keepers and are rewatched about once a year on average :)

I will happily watch and watch again films that I have really enjoyed, you tend to see new things and better understand some of the nuances in plot and character development that you often don't get the first time around. If there is a series on TV that I have really enjoyed, I will buy the DVD's as they come out (or if a boxed set is on special offer) then watch the series again from starto to finish. Battlestart Galactica and Firefly are two that get regular airings, there is just so much great stuff in both of those.

Thanks for the warning about that. Taken on board. The wallets I bought were on ebay, 300+ storage capacity, 8 DVDs per page (using front and back) and the liners look pretty soft inside. Anyway it's getting silly trying to store all my collection and still have bookcase room, plus I shall be moving soon so I need to downsize, if not in quantity in volume at least.

"Randy Nora and the dustmen", eh? John. tsk tsk. Did chuckle at that title slipped in there.

Just bought the entire series of Battlestar Galactica in boxed sets on ebay. Series 1-5, got the lot in 5 seperate purchases for well under £30. (Think I got series 2 for only £3.50 inc P&P) Top tip is not to bid on something ending in the evening but try to nab something at the last minute in the daytime when most people are at work. Working from home has it's benefits.

Seen Firefly and love it. Recently won The Walking Dead series 1 in boxed set for £8. Quite why I bid on a Zombie series still confuses me but I heard good things about this in the "Reccomend me a good outdoors film" thread, figured I can always scream into a cushion and no one will be the wiser. :lmao:

Always rent or see at the flicks before i buy. When i do i watch them many times over the years. Westerns mainly. Like another poster i forget a lot of what happened so usually enjoy them again and again.

I watch films again and again and again, usually over years but I was given a copy of "The Kings Speech" which until recently, I watched every couple of days!

Don't quite know why, I just found it absolutely fascinating. Not bad, considering I twisted my face when it was first given to me.

I rarely buy new dvd's, preferring to pick them up at boot sales and charity shops.

cheers

Steve

Watch a film most nights in bed before sleep! collection over 300 now!. All scanned onto htc desire, so when i go shopping i can check if i already have it or not (local hmv usually). Bit of a film buff i'm affraid, big part of my college studies (20 odd years ago).
Ok, probably twice a week is Ray mears night, got them all, plus some not available on dvd (downloaded).
Only video's i own are films not available on dvd (K2 and some other classics)
Can't believe i found someone that would marry me!

I'll re-watch TV series more often than films (except some favourites)

Must have watched "Tales from the Green Valley" several times, ditto the Sharpe and Hornblower box sets.
