taking wombles point that this is in danger of descending into farce, i will choose my words carefully - note the light hearted nature of the thread until dommy posted, then see how it changed.
arguing like a politician about the supposed misinterpretation of the minutae of certain quotes doesn't change the fact that the 'mud-slinging started following the accusatory post dommy made. dommy -you've made some good points, and i love a spirited debate as much as anyone, but my opinion is just that - an opinion. i like the fact that you don't agree - the world would be a boring place if we all thought the same way, but my hackles get raised when someone tries to belittle my opinion in favour of their own. i'm happy to hear an opposing view, but not happy to be labelled as something negative by someone who doesn't agree. i don't want this to turn into another 'sheeple' thread, so i'll shake the virtual hand and say no more!
on a puzzling note - i remember when i was a cub, that we had a little laminated card with the cub scout promise and law on it, and we would recite it at the start of every meeting - i'm damn sure that the law wasn't a bullet pointed list like that, but after googling, i can't find the original. do any leaders from the 70s-early 80s recall what the law printed on the card was?
