Government report says don't privatise, plant more trees

Woke to see the good news that we don't have enough woodland and the public should have more access to it. Couldn't stick around to hear the full article, but sounded promising!

I heard it driv ing into work on BBC radio 4. The person responsible for the report has stated that he believes that the forrests should not be privatised and they aim to increase woodland coverage in the uk from 10% to 15% by 2016. Sounds promising

And critically that they won't be selling off more of the forestry.

The government says it accepts the recommendations and will halt plans to sell-off state-owned forests.

Having a quick look through it there doesn't seem to be much that hasn't been said before. Whether anything is actually done is another question altogether, hopefully all those who signed the petitions will also go out and do something practical.
