Thank you, thought I’d read somewhere of this happening bit this one just with hexi blocks. Couldn’t have taken much heat to to that, just a couple of hexi’s

I think the strong wind was directing all the heat to one side, through vent holes. I much prefer the sort that are open at the top, the tbs one stops a lot of the heat reaching the bottom of the cup.

Northants.
Almost inevitably, for the mug, it's my Crusader - good capacity and utterly reliable. For the pot, it's the Pathfinder stainless bushpot for exactly the same reasons, really! I would also add - rather cheekily - my Eagle stainless kettle for those times when I'm using dehydrated meals only or I'm just out for a brew.

That also makes a lot of sense really eg most of the heat will heat the stove metal with some of the heat going through the holes.
So the old style US military type Open top will be the best.
Really never thought about it before but yes common sense.

I think my TBS round stand did warp. Became very tight on the cup when stacked. The two Ali express close topped kidney ones I have are a bit different the one with bigger vents is a bit tight the other is fine.

I had a swan frying pan with a wooden folding handle, I haven’t been able to find it for several years. It was excellent and I miss it.

Has my wife been to visit? She is always
hiding organising stuff. I think of her as the kit gremlin! Perhaps you’ve acquired a similar hanger on.

I ended up getting one of the open stove stands and a cup, both original army ones, kidney shaped. Couldn’t get an original lid or the heavy metal one that I believe fits, so got a reproduction lid. Problem is, it forgot fit properly, so I think I’m going to have to go with a replica cup and lid- hopefully those will fit in the open stand as it can be bent to some degree.
