Thanks Mike. I’d not seen this chap before, I’m tempted to try out some canteen cup baking. I have a mini Trangia style mess tin as well, so I might start with that first.

I did a little comparison of the mk1 crusader cups, bare steel vs coated.
Just to see if this made any difference to heating time.

In short not this time.

500ml in each. Both on a full block of fire dragon fuel. No lid or windbreak.

Neither reached a rolling boil, just small bubbles in the base and sides at around 7’30”.

Not unexpected given the volume of cold water and weather. The silver cup was to windward and the fuel ran out around 12’30” and the black one at 14”.

I prefer them on the style old stove but I still need to add a tray to them for the gel.
Then best tins, for me at least, on the fire dragon stove seem to be the Trangia mini mess tin.

Makes a nice compact kit with stove/lighter/matches/spoon/cloth/soup mix/hot chocolate. All in a small dry bag with a Wildo cup and a boil in the bag meal as break down supplies.
