It's a shame I have a problem with the cold and I'm only 20. I dread to think what it'll be like when I'm in my 40s and 50s. As a pretty stark example I once heard someone say it was roasting in a room in summer. I was was freezing... Shame.

If it's not a clinical thing like raynaud's then you just need to move about more; up your metabolism. Spending time outdoors lets your body temperature adjust.
Humanity is kind of built to be a little bit frenetic, but we've become very wrapped up in houses, offices and cars and feel the cold when we sit still for long.

You posted (or at least the thread went in the direction of...) something along the lines of "looks like we're in for a cold winter"... I don't think it's odd that people discuss the pros and cons of that. Same as if you'd posted "looks like we're in for a heatwave".
I hate to say it but perhaps it's a bit cliquey in the sub zero forum (you even had your own badge if I remember right) if it's really that surprising? What you guys get up to in Norway is all really interesting but...
There's more to sub zero than messing about with pulks, underblankets and snow shoes.
(I've avoided the avalanche of puns about chilling out, cold shoulders, icy glares etc.)

We got snow at 1000 metres here today, the first of this years season, and yes Autumn is only just getting started . last year the first snow on the peaks was much later than this

I ordered two new gislaved nordfrost tyres today. I used to wait until October to order new tyres for the front but too many people in the UK have woken up to the virtues of a winter tyre in the last couple of years meaning most supplies have been sold out by Late October. Last year the garage phoned to say they'd put a couple aside for me as they'd almost sold out, lucky that. So thought I'd strike early this year.
I'd better fettle up me snow&ice bike, get the spiky tyres on it and make sure it is in good running order.
Bring on the roads blocked with ice, I say. There is great satisfaction to being one of the only people to make it to work, because everyone else can't get their cars out of their drive (but I cycled in).

Forum title says "forum for all things cold", you should probably get that changed if this is the case?
Personally i think the sub zero section is a bit strange anyway ;if you like cold weather consider a move to Scotland.Getting excited because its winter and getting colder and might snow in Hampshire does not warrant a sub section or even a specific post in my opinion i know others differ and that fine

What's wrong with the cold weather specialists/lovers having a thread to post about trips and kit.
The knife lovers have there's as to Moot party hounds, heck I've even got one where it's a homage to general discussion, fun facts and general stupid prattling's of a few of us with over-excitable stupid imaginations. (At the moment we're discussing my adoptive forum father's potential secret identity as a lizard overlord as we got board of looking like Barney Rubble).
The reason they're talking about an early winter is that it can help in the shakedown of kit before they head of an find out that something doesn't work in more serious conditions. And they do come up to Scotland to play too.
Let's all have fun and play in our own bit and still mix with others. Or we might as well just all be on one homogenised Facebook.
