hello people ive just signed up on here ive always been into the outdoors and deicided to try my hand at bushcraft what a mega buzz, me& some mates have just got back from derwent water, what an amazing place the scenery is amazing when we were sailing over there was a bunch of about 20 lads throwing beer bottles into the lake and various other stuff, what the hell is wrong with these idiots they were shouting and hacking trees down , later on when it was dark my mate deicided to go look at the stars on the shore and while he was walking a fat b d thought it would be funny to push him in he had just got changed into dry clothes and had nothing left , we sorted him out with what we could what sort of mentality have these pillocks got &if any, in the morning the rangers came over and asked everyone to tidy up no worries we said so after putting away the tarps, etc and sorting the fire the rangers came back and said because of those chavs, knobheads in future there will be a zero tolerance on fires maybee even camping so i say to those responsable well fuking done you have spoiled it for everyone now if you cant appreciatte our amazing planet stay at home . i just thought you should all know cragly.:camping:

hi cragly i have woods o across the road from me and just saw some kids having a fire so just shouted to them to make sure they put it out properly when they were finished there reply no problem all under control we have water with us so there not all numptys regards dave

I think I'd have camped elsewhere and contacted the rangers at the same time. If it was St Herberts then camping should be banned on there already, it's a complete mess on there these days, all the firewood went a long time ago so now it's living trees that are getting the brunt of it. Some of the engravings in the trees show that folk have visited there for over a hundred years, I think it's time to ban camping for ten years or so and see if it can recover

St Herberts camping is not tolerated any more from what i know.

That's what I always though too Andy, when I signed up to NT membership last year in the car park down at Ashness, the only question I had was "Can I park my car overnight in one of their car parks and canoe out to St Herberts and camp ?"

The answer was "Yes, that's perfectly fine"

I even got him to double check via a phone call to his supervisor, when I said I thought camping was not tolerated on the islands they definitely otherwise. I've paddled out to the islands a couple of times now and to be honest I wouldn't want to camp there now anyway.

alright mate oh no its far from going to put me off , just next time find somewhere a bit mellower its just a shame they dont appreciatte there surroundings take it easy cragly.

it is for now but for how long anyones guess i agree it needs to recover theres not a lot of wood left.
