I was in my local army surplus today and saw that BCB are producing plastic lids for the mug.
This is the idea http://www.bestglide.com/crusader_cup_lid.html

My place is called Drop Zone Supplies, here's the website http://www.army-surplus.co.uk/
The lids don't seem to be listed on it but give them a call and I'msure they'll be able to help

Price was about £3.00 IIRC

No link with the shop etc. etc. etc.

Just thought someone might be interested...

I've had one for a few months Mark. Its rubbish. The one Russ made is much better. The vent holes in the plastic one are too large and lose steam. The finger grips mean you have to stick your hand into hot steam to remove it and it jams solid in the mug.

Seriously - mine was used a few times and relegated to the "swaps" drawer. Ask Russ for one of his formed ally ones - far more useful

Looks quite useful that.. but now Red's put me right off :)

Is it just designed for drinking out of, or use it as a cover while boiling?
Only because i notice that when i stick my crusader near the fire to make a brew it sometimes get "bits" in it...
Doesn't bother me, but I can see the missus turning her nose up at it.

Which "Russ" is this Red?
this one?

So did I Mark - hence why I bought one!

Having used that one and Warthog's though I would say the plastic one is far better than nothing, but the full metal lid really does improve boil time

Wasn't having a go :(

Its actually a good match to the cup - theres steam on the lid :)

Just stumbled across a half tin of black stove paint in the shed and had an "aha" moment!
