was thinking earlier about music that puts me in an outdoorsy mood, or maybe music I sing to myself while out walking. So thought I'd see if others here have particular music that makes them think about a particular place or being outdoors.

For me, since I'm a folk musician it's mostly folk music and often specific to where I am. For example I love listening to bands like Lau when in the UK.

I also love classical music for getting me in an outdoorsy mood. Grieg, Beethoven, Faure, Procofiev are all good examples.

This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2xXs0JfBhY is what does it for me.

I go out into the wild to get away from human noise ... and that from a profound music lover. I don't want Muzak when I'm out there, even if by Satie, Clapton, Beethoven, Dire Straits, Debussy, She'koyokh, Schubert, Zappa, Mozart, Beefheart, Procofiev, Charlie Parker, John Renbourn, Hendrix, David Munroe, Red Priest et al ... all of whom I like at home.

I mean less in the way of to listen too while in the wild, but to remind you of it while stuf in a dreary office etc. That said I do travel with a small accordion, tin whistle and my voice.

Hey dreadhead: cool links! I've never listened to any Scandinavian music before... even though I've spent a year in Denmark. I will give it a try.

Folk music (where I come from we call it Celtic music, although I know that's probably not the most accurate term)
Here is an example from the North of Spain (Asturias)

But same as emrock, I also like some nice classical music when out in the woods: Nocturnes mainly (you know: Chopin, Debussy, Satie...)

Midlake.
The albums 'the trials of van occupanther' and 'the courage of others'
Cant fault these for bushy, crafty, olde worlde reference, content and downright brilliant music.

That's an Orb track I didn't know. Thanks.

For me it is usually specific lyrics that remind me of outdoors.
Kate Bush, Nocturn - "We tire of the city. We tire of it all. We long for just that something more"
