Any more details about what sort of things might happen at the w/e. Or that happened last year? I have no idea of the sort of weekend it was.

Also any more photos or details about the location. The link in the other thread comes up with an error for me.

Sounds interesting though so I am keeping weekend clear.

Thanks,

Tony

This is looking really good, there’s quite a few people that have come forward to volunteer their time to do workshops, both amateur and professionals, :D there’s some great stuff going on over the weekend…..Here’s a list, although it’s not finished…there may be some additions or subtractions…… ;)

Axe workshop – Axe skills and uses, safety etc
Bow Making – The idea is that we make some bows and get to use them!
Archery – We’ll have a good quantity of kit and some woodland.
Knife making – We’ll have forging demo and knife making (last year this was fantastic!)
Tracking Workshop
Friction Firelighting and other fire making
Wilderness First Aid
Foraging
Navigation
Snares and traps – What’s legal, safety and how to make them etc
Etc

There will be plenty of opportunity to carve spoons, ask advice, do what you want etc
The bottom line is that it’s your weekend, go to the workshops that you want to, share what you want to, wander off if you want to, it’s all up to you.
There’s a few people that are going to help with some kids activities and the site is very family friendly, last years was an excellent family event. :D

We’re going to have these yearly and build on them, they’re by the members an for the members….it’s fantastic and you guys deserve a huge thank you for making it possible…. ;)

Anyone that’s travelling by train etc let us know and we’ll sort out getting you picked up any time during the weekend, if you can’t get to it all just come for a day out. If anyone else has a question just ask it on here. I for one am looking forward to this, lots of friendships were made last year and there’s going to be more friends made this year…It’s what it’s all about! :D

Cheers!

Jake,

If that lift is still up for grabs, I would be grateful.

Cheers

I am confirmed! :D

Boss said... yeh, you can have those dates, or you will be a sod to work with won't ya? Bless him!

I am trying my best not to bring so much kit this year so please please please request items you want me to bring and activities you want me to demo.

I am hoping to do at least one knife sharpening class or more if the demand is there. I would also be up for a general discussion on knives and the industry in general if anyone was interested.

I would be happy to have a more 'formal' time and place for the above if required! Less excuse for me to sleep in!

I've been a 'lurker' on this site for ages and just wondered if, firstly, this is open to all (i.e. people like me that aren't regular contributors to the site) and also, how do I actually go about paying etc for the weekend?

Are spaces limited (how many people are expected)?

Thanks for the help. Great site btw. I've learnt so much here.

Thanks

Archibold Tuttle.

Hi archiet, good questions. ;)

Yes, this is open to all, as long as the people that come are there to enjoy the weekend and make friends! Last year we had quite a few people that were not members of bcuk and it was great to meet them and for them to join in and see what we’re about, so, bcuk members and non members are welcome. :D

There is no limit to the people we can accommodate, there’s quite a bit going on and we’ve also got the space for a huge amount of people.

You can paypal the money to shop@bushcraftuk.net or you can send me a cheque, PM me if you want to do this. For some it may be a very spur of the minute decision to come and if that’s the case it’s fine to pay when they arrive.

Another note I’ll add here is that the payment is for staying the night (ground rent) if people come for a day there will be no cost, unless we buy in some food for a big group meal or we loose a lot of arrows!! People don't have to come for the whole thing, caome to what you can.... :D

Thanks again for asking and I hope you can make it, it would be great to meet you and all the other that are going.
:)
Cheers

Archiet, if you enjyed the site - the bcuk meets.... they're great. Theres a huge amount going on at this one - ever wondered how to make a bow from scratch or what do shhh-you-know-who teach their trackers?
These are some of the things on offer, plus seeing every concievable bit of bushcraft kit imaginable and meeting some really great folks.
See ya there.
