Hi everyone.
I will be demonstration leather sheath making (waist belt) the demo is intended for anybody but is in particular aimed at beginners/ beginner knife makers.
The idea is to show the basic steps of marking out a pattern (paper) and transfering this to leather. Cutting out leather, forming and hand stitching. From there will go to dying the leather, to then apply leather finishes/preservers.

I am considering doing an introduction to knife making by stock removal. I dont want this to clash in any way with the forging demo because this will be as last year a very interesting and rewarding demo. If any of you guys would be interested in stock removal knife making methods for say 1 hours demo please let me know befor close of play on Thursday. The demo would just be a quick run through of the basic steps and would hopfully give folk a basic understanding Cheers

Good news - I can make it for Friday night through Saturday. Be good to catch up with people. I'll pack a couple of the big BRKT knives and my archery kit in case people are interested in that sort of gear.

Cheers, Alick

Alway positive, Tony :p.

About sheath making demos/courses - I would like to make a sheath for my Mora Frost knife 'cause the plastic one is a bit, ahem, rubbish. What kind of leather do I need to buy? I like the look of the one on this tutorial.

I'm hoping there will be some socialisation around some camp fires, on the subject of meeting people.

I intend to learn some basics on wood carving, a bit about sheath making, fire...management and fire by friction, and how to sharpen knives :).

There'll be a few leatherworkers on hand over the weekend, ask away - with *some* of them it is difficult to stop them talking... :D

I can bring along a few different sharpening systems (Lansky/Spyderco/EdgePro, for example) and some stones so people can see what they get along with...

I'm going to need a 2nd bergen at this rate too!

As usual nothing goes according to plan! I was all set to come down on the friday night the same as shanec I was looking forward to the chance to meet people before the weekend really got started. Unfortunately I've gotta go to Cambridge first thing on sat and so won't be there till around 11.00 :( Tony this means I'll no longer be able to give anyone a lift unless someone needs a lift from Cambridge on the sat? :)

Thanks Tony.

I intended to attend this weekend's meetup but am unfortunately down with some sort of flue/cold. So it's going to be an indoor wekend for the greatest part I am afraid...

But looking forward to the July/August meetup and to your newsabout how this May one on your return!

Kind Regards,

Hi tony .... .. every one, hope your all as well as can be expected!
and raring to goto the meet?.
Three thing's just flew past my mind;
1.What does the cost of entry cover you for(e.g. Do you get free knitting lesson or Workshop enrolment?).
2.Are there any toilet/showers or should I bring a spade?.
3.How do enrol for a workshop?.

SeeU@Dmeet.co
Ps Oh I just thought how much is the gate prices?.

A quick reply for you both!

No idea where the shops are, but I doubt they’re very far and someone will always pop down there if needed. I expect that people will share a bit as well. So, take some dosh just in case. I’ll have a few bcuk bits and bobs there like the last meet.

Cost of entry is for camping fees, all the workshops are free (only cost that there might be is a contribution towards arrows for the archery), there should no need to enrol in workshops, just go to the ones you’re interested in, yes there’s toilets (compost) and showers (woodburning) so no need for a spade and it’s £20 for everything.

Hope that covers it

I’m going to try to get there for about 6 pm, it’s a long way from up here! If people need picking up from the train station etc call and we’ll see what we can do.

Cheers
Tone
