Tested this recipe last night and it was a household winner. Simple working class food and all the better for it. I would get plain oil rather than the flavoured stuff I had and I would add an extra clove and a wee bit more tomato paste...oh, and make sure it's good pasta, life is too short for cheap pasta.
That would work well, I might enjoy it, though not a fish person.

Oddly, Blackie, another non fish eater, loves tinned sardines

Sardines in oil, skin & bone, mash using the back of a fork with tomato ketchup, Tabasco, malt vinegar & some of the oil from the tin, spread over toast and grill

I like most tinned fish. Practically lived on tinned tuna for a while, so don't particulay like it it or dislike it but it's food. The other stuff I like... Tesco has some interesting Mackerel flavours. They used to do one in Teriyaki sauce I liked, but haven't seen it in a while

Got a mackerel in Teriyaki here... i just checked, its not Tesco, Its Sainsburys own branded stuff. So if you have a Sainsburys near to you, have a look there. I got this within the last month.

1. Gently sauté the following - one (or two) tins of anchovies, garlic, juice of at least ½ a lemon, chilli flakes, season with pepper, stirring to meld it all together in a saucy dressing
2. Finely slice and steam cabbage
3. Cook pasta
4. Mix the anchovy dressing through and eat. Food heaven!

Today I took a tin out of the cellar because I had a bit of a tinned fish craving.

Big disappointment. I don't remember how much I paid for this, but it isn't worth more than €2.50.

It's not unpleasant, there are no off flavours, no strong smell, it's just plain bland. I have a second tin in the cellar, but now that I've eaten it straight from the tin I know that it is to be used as an ingredient, not to be eaten on its own.

4 fish!, not worth £2.50, but at least they are bigger fish than my Costco tins of mediterranean sardines. The fish are smaller but packed in tight, and cost a lot less than that. I'm a bit of a fan, gound black pepper, salt, and a salad, Yum!
