Hi

I am new in the forum, so hopefully I'm posting this in the right place...

I'd like to take my girlfriend to a 2-day navigation course (map reading, compass usage, basic navigation skills, etc). Anyone knows about any good courses in the UK? Or even better, mainland Europe?

Thanks very much in advance

Toni

Found the book too wordy and therefore slightly dull. Lots of info in it though

Seems like a very knowledgable chap

Hi Thanks a lot for your replies.

I think that the PYB concept is closer to what I had in mind (at least, by now) but I also appreciate the natural navigator proposal.

Thanks again

I did a course with Leon Durbin a couple of years back. It's on the west coast of Scotland, a lovely location. Went with a friend from work and as it turned out we were the only two on it so had an instructor each (result). I'm the dodgy looking one in the green coat. Really enjoyed it, did some night navigation, which is good practice for mountain walking in mist and fog and we camped out on the mountains. It was very thorough and took me from a complete novice to competent.
