    Hammocks and rucksacks

Hello hammock users.... As a ground dweller I set my tarp up to ensure that anything on the ground around me doesn't get wet should it rain. Whilst looking at the Hennesey Hammocks and their specific tarps, it doesn't look like anything under the hammock would stay dry in a downpour. So...

    Cheviots last weekend (8th Feb)

Myself and a few others went up towards Windy Ghyll in the Cheviots last Sunday. Snow was pretty much 2ft deep all the way making it heavy going, but all good fun! Also got myself a new rucksack which I've posted a couple of piccies of too. Definitely somewhere I'll go back to, great scenery...

Find me a new watch strap!

Hi all, I could do with a new watch strap as the bracelet I currently have has stretched a bit in the links and flaps about on my wrist a bit too much. I had been thinking about some kind of rubber divers strap, but not sure what it might look like...any ideas more than welcome! Watch is...

    Deal on Alpkit sleeping bag

Hi all, Just noticed that you can get the Alpkit SkyeHigh 400 bag for just £45 at the moment. I've just ordered one now as my xmas pressie from the Mrs. Was going to ask for the 600, but at this price I reckon it's a steal. Cheers

    New sleeping bag

Hi all, I fancy a new sleeping bag from the Mrs for Xmas and am trying to make up my mind between an Alpkit Skyehigh (prob 600 but maybe 400) or a Snugpak Softie Merlin 3 (maybe 6 Kestral). This year I only ever stayed out in Summer really but I also used my current bag in Germany in...

Wild camping/bushcraft in the North East

Hi all, Previously when I've taken my eldest son out we've gone wild camping in the lakes. All great there, but it's a couple of hours in the car to get there. Is there anywhere closer in the North East to go wild camping with no bother? I've called up the friends of chopwell woods but...

    Sabre 45 really that good?

It seems that the Sabre 45 gets praise all over this site, however when looking for reviews on the net I came across this one: http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34862 Reckons if you're 6ft or over then it might not be the one to go for. I'm not trying to say go for the...

    Berghaus Arete Tour 45 + 8

Anyone used one of the above? Have been looking at different rucksacks and looking for one that I can use for overnighters, general days out and for the 3 peaks next year and this seems to fit the bill (assuming I learn how to pack all my overnight gear better!) So - anyone???? Thanks!

    sleeping bag & rucksack sizes

Hi all, Having lurked here a while I've seen loads of posts on rucksack sizes, but after going out with my son for a night in the lakes a week or two ago, it seems that I might not be able to get away with a small sack...... I borrowed a friends Vango 70+10 bag and it seemed fairly full...

    Hi from Whitley Bay

Hi, I'm Craig from Whitley Bay. Found this site a wee while ago and been lurking since really. As most on here, I like the outdoors, not just bushcraft but getting out and about etc. Used to be a very keen mountain biker when I was younger but not so much now-a-days. 2 kids, 10 and 1...
