    Berghaus Cyclops 2 Vulcan

Hi Duncan, Shame. I've tried a 3 before and they are a bit too big for me. I used to have a 2 but it was stolen. My old one was a Crusader, without the lower zip around the bottom. They really are very good bergens. Nevermind, cheers, Julian.

    Berghaus Cyclops 2 Vulcan

Hi FGYT, I may be interested in this. If you lift up the looped carry handle on the back, at the top, there will be a tiny label (hopefully) which will have the back size on it. If it is 2, then I'll probably go for it. Are all the zips ok and working? Cheers, Julian.

    The changing colours of landrover....

This must be a deliberate plot to initiate a Land Rover vs land cruiser argument! PS, I like the Aussie army utlity vehicles. :D

Wild camping - where's the strangest place you've camped?

Walking through the woods at night, me and my mate finally came across the perfect camp spot - nice and flat with reasonable cover. We set up tacticly so no torches and only quiet whispers. In the morning when I opened one eye, I could see a green/brown(mainly brown) tennis ball size object...

    Air Rifles

The Weihrauch HW77 is also very good. Under levers are favourable to me because I don't like the idea of the barrel moving which might get a bit slack after a while, therefore, putting sight alignment out. Like you, I'm still undecided about the calibre. I had .177 and I was happy with it...

    Air Rifles

Yes Dave, get a scope. Something like a 4x32 or 4-9 x40. I don't know the exact figures, but along those lines. Scopes are also very good for low light conditions. Rabbit cooked in red wine with rosemary , garlic and black olives is good. It's an Italian stlye of doing it. But with potatoes...

Don't you just love 'em!!! - Squaddie rubbish

I actually used to like biscuits brown and AB. I was the very sad one who used to collect all the unwanted compo from everyone and take it home on leave!! Even non dairy whitener!! I've changed now though, honest. I now drink black coffee! :D

Don't you just love 'em!!! - Squaddie rubbish

It certainly is a mess, but I reckon it was a genuine "forget" to pick the bags up. It's just impossible to have been left deliberately in that way, unless the British Army has severely changed. There was probably someone from the QMs supposed to pick it up after the exercise in the Land Rover...

    Which Air Rifle?

Those are nice looking rifles. You've obviously got things sorted. Makes me want one even more now. Yes, here in Jersey we've still got pretty much everything except full auto weapons, so we're lucky in that way. The thing is Rapidboy, I'm just not familiar enough with all the models and...

    SAS Bergen, personal experience anyone?

I once read a quote about the 'large' pack. "Trying to get your sleeping bag into one, is like trying to stuff a rapidly inflating rubber elephant, into a matchbox"!! And it's true. This is my opinion: The GS (General Service) is small, heavy and very uncomfortable if your using it seriously...

    Which Air Rifle?

My mind is all over the place now! I've had a look at the tx200 and read some reviews. I'm sure it's an excellent rifle, but the reviews were a bit up and down. It's also a bit too expensive for me. I'm going to go for an HW77 in .22 I don't think the .22 will give the same penetration...

    Which Air Rifle?

I'll check out the tx200s and the hw97. What is it, that makes the difference between a sporting rifle and a hunting rifle? Cheers.

    Military PCLE pack

Like anything British Army, they are a bit heavy and bulky. They're a decent pack but if you can afford it, I reccomend the Berghaus Munro.

    Which Air Rifle?

Hello people, I was wandering if any of you knew of a decent air rifle for rabbit hunting. I used to have an HW77K many years ago and it was excellent. I am now thinking of the same again but without the 'K' in .22. :AR15firin Any opinions? Cheers, Julian.

    Campfire food

I reckon good old pork sausages with a bread roll and ketchup would surely go down well. Not very original and you'd need a grill, but the the traditional foods are always the best. You could make a spit and roast a couple of chickens. Maybe some pork kebabs made with bay tree twigs for...

    Best way of making fire

I think it is satisfying to start a fire without matches or a lighter, but using a lighter to light a fire lighter is quicker. It's not cheating, the objective is to light a fire. I do, however, think that to have the ability to use other methods is important if you are going on a serious trip.

Yeah, I agree with all of that.
