Dutch Oven ...... my adventure so far.........

Great thread Kinky Minx, I got an oven for xmas, but due to time constraints it hasn't even been fully out the box yet. Mine is supposed to be pre-seasoned, but I'd be interested to know if others think its best to do it again.

Developing Observation Skills In The Outdoors?

It's taken me a long while to learn, but as previous posters have said, find a spot to sit down and relax, maybe with your back to a tree. Allow yourself to relax, and if your quiet enough and lucky enough, the locals start to appear.

    New 'Go Outdoors'-Newcastle

Thats a really good price on the Kiwi's RB. I've just ordered some direct at £25. Think I need to investigate this shop at the weekend.

    Argos axe Heads up

Mine was exactly the same Mac, tried to split a few sticks and it bounced off, it was that blunt. But not complaining at the price. I see what you mean about the filler instead of the wedge.

Advise needed - Panasonic DMC-FZ38 or similar

Reading this with great interest as my compact digital no longer captures what I see with my eye. Saving up for a DSLR, and like most was undecided with the Canon-Nikon debate.

    Looking after yourself?

Thanks for sharing your story tjwuk. I think we all get a bit complacent about our abilities, so it's really good to have a sensible reminder to prepare for the "what if" scenarios. Cheers

    What's your winter project ?

I'd be really interested to see how your fruit press turns out Tony. I'm going to concentrate on growing fruit on my allotment next year, with an aim to bottling lots of wine and beer.

    volunteering

Done a fair bit during the summer/autumn months for a few different places, and it was great. Outdoors 3-4 days a week. Hard work but very satisfying. it's woth it purely for the health/sleep benefits.
