I went for a walk in the snow this morning with HWMBLT :D

IMG_1064.JPG

Out the front door, trees heavy with frost crystals :)

IMG_1065.JPG

Where the squirrels have their drey.

IMG_1068.JPG

Frost crystals on a spiders web, turning it into spikey white strings.

IMG_1071.JPG

An icy spidery snotter on the stone faces :)

IMG_1076.JPG

Snow, snow and more snow. Lots of tracks, fox, deer, badger, people.....

IMG_1080.JPG

I moved again  It's hard to get a good photo of me

IMG_1082.JPG

Icy spikes on every plant stem around.

IMG_1084.JPG

No real thaw in weeks here. Unusual, it's normally very mild.

IMG_1086.JPG

Not so much snow under the Scots Pines though. Ground is frozen solid.

IMG_1089.JPG

Lots of interesting looking hollow and burrows around.

IMG_1101.JPG

I moved, again, Well it was a frozen something interesting

IMG_1106.JPG

Down to the river below the castle.

IMG_1108.JPG

Just a glimpse past the castle Donjon keep.

IMG_1109.JPG

There's a theme of cold white woodlands today :)

IMG_1111.JPG

Path homewards.

IMG_1114.JPG

Loads of Robins and Wrens, tried to catch a photo, but they move more than I do.

IMG_1124.JPG

Deer tracks; very sharp dark slots into the snow catch the eye when out walking.

A lovely walk, loads of, " Happy New Years", home for lunch and then family visited and then we went and visited more family close by.
Home and warm and snug in time for tea :D

Have a very good New Year folks,

atb,
Toddy

Yeah, it's been Baltic here this Winter :hatscarf: Your camp looked decidedly comfortable :D

I think it's the high pressure, it's been so calm, very little wind for weeks, and that's allowed the cold to settle in hard. This is the warm end of the County, and it's bitter here, no wonder it was so cold at Wiston :sigh:

Stay warm out there folks :campfire:

cheers,
M

It's actually feeling a bit warmer than it has been.
Just checked the garden thermometer and it's reading -6 tonight. It's very overcast though. Tbh it looks like more snow.
Y'know you can have too much of a good thing.
There's not a packet of salt to be had in the shops, the main roads are the only ones being gritted, and local streets and pavements are like ice rinks, the road in ours has six inch deep ruts in the compacted slush ice.
It's going to be blooming soggy when this all melts

It is beautiful though :D and it's light, at this usually dull, grey time of year that alone is a pleasure :approve:

Hope the New Year is a good one for you and yours :D

cheers,
M

Stunning pics, what camera do you use?

Sorry, this is me, you know, the technophobe  you're asking. :dunno:
We took HWMBLT's wee one this morning. He assured me that it's almost identical to the one I normally use so I'd be fine with it. He took half of the photos and I took the rest. I just point it, make sure I'm in close up or view, and press the button.
Hang on, I'll go and find it, it's bound to have labels or somesuch on it.

atb,
M

The photos today were taken using a Canon power shot A560, mine's the A85.
HWMBLT is off to bed, if you'd like more info I can ask him in the morning if that's any use ?

I got a brilliant toy for Christmas, it's one of the little paperback sized printers that plugs into it or my phone and it produces sticky backed photos in seconds

cheers,
Toddy

Yes, that's a LOT colder than down here. It only hits freezing once in a while here at the moment, so we mostly haven't even had any frost, let alone razor-wire spiders webs. In fact, I've haven't seen spider webs like that in my whole life!
