    Little Red book of Sloth

Ah my Journal contains all sorts or random bilge, but this is more specific to technique etc, e.g. ive drawn out various different fire lays and then everytime I use one of them I pop in how succesful it was. Hopefully I can see when each one is most effective and find a personal favorite...

    Little Red book of Sloth

Been getting back into all this 'Bushcraft' stuff. After spending my first 11 years almost entirely outside, I'm now returning to the fold. There seems to masses more books and such like around than ever I remember trying to buy on my £1 pocket money which got me thinking. Reading through a Ray...

    romantic bushcrafting

Don't stay anywhere near habitation. You'll just get shouts of 'F*** Off', or 'get a room'.... :ban: I need to rethink my dating plans, seems to have worked well for several people on here :thinkerg:

    Bushcraft/Camping charms or companions?

Haha, superb. Personally I always take Arnold the Owl and Nigel the Squirrel both brought on an Ecology workshop thingy last year. They keep everyone else vaguely amused and remind them that I'm mad, hence the whole - 'Don't argue wth him, he's a bit, well, you know' :togo:

how do you learn? how to teach?

To be fair I've never really had any form of Silat training either :) So I'm really just BSing!! However i have done a couple of workshos with Gurus who had studied it or similar arts. Silat is an INdonesian fighting system/martial art. Comes in several forms and is considered relatively brutal...

    Good films to watch...

What a film John! Saving PRivate Ryan & Enemy at the Gates are two favourites of me. You can't go wrong with old classics such as The Great Escape, Bridge over River Kwai or GUns of Naveron or Dambusters etc. All slightly military. Dudue Where's my car is one of my favourite films but not...

    Freshwater Fish?

If you know some fishermen ask them. A lot of people don't seem to bother taking their fish home now even if they don't fish at catch and release sites, not sure why this is I think a lot of people in this country are somewhat anti the whole fresh water thing. Pike is good if you can get...

    Pheasant time

Yup, I tend to breast however was called upon yesterday to skin a couple and twasn't to bad. A few minor tears here and there but nothing that'l worry too much, I do take it very slowly though whilst listnening to a lil bit of panpipe music so perhaps that has something to do with it. Pheasant...

What sort of nutter are you?

Found N and S very hard to diffrentiate... and on a lot of their points you're left thinking perhaps I'm a lil bit of this one and a helping of this so nothings very clear cut. Interesting none-the-less

how do you learn? how to teach?

I believe this is a core concept of Silat; whereby a upil is considered an amature - no matter their skill level - until they start to teach. I think this is especially relevant when you have been taught a skill by other people. After a while we forget why we do things this way but just do it...

    Is that stew, I smell?

Cheers Eric, it seems to be working fine now so perchance I'll just leave it! I don't understand computers and when something doesn't work prodding it with a sharp stick does nothing :cussing: :banghead: Oh well... Thanks to everyone else for the welcomage this is definatly the gretest site...

Just What You Can Carry On Your Back

Each to their own I guess both methods should work as a means of building confidence without tools and skills. To me it's important that as people become more experienced in 'bushcraft' that is tested in one off these ways, otherwise can you ever be sure you would cope? Surely this is a major...
