I love watching dvd's and was wondering what to watch over the christmas break...
What have you guys seen lately and what would you recommend...?

I have recently seen King Arthur, 300, Alien vs Predator and last night watched Merlin, with Miranda Richardson playing a great role ;) as Mab the sorceress...:p
Payback, I had not seen before and was interesting seeing Mel Gibson as a baddie..Bloody good film...

What a film John! Saving PRivate Ryan & Enemy at the Gates are two favourites of me.
You can't go wrong with old classics such as The Great Escape, Bridge over River Kwai or GUns of Naveron or Dambusters etc.

All slightly military. Dudue Where's my car is one of my favourite films but not to everyones taste - likewise Anchorman.
Darn it just get Dad's Army or Only Fools and Horses

You could add the film of the National Guard guys that get stuck in the Bayou swamps, kinda like Deliverance, quite Bushcrafty, -Southern Comfort-.

A similar film is the same actor as a father who loses and searches for his sun in the rain forrest.

-Stone Monkey- is an amazing 80s film of a climber, you will appreciate it if not a climber, it's on an new dvd. Also -E11- DVD of a scots climber working on and climbing, the hardest route in the world, at Dumbrton rock. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fOz5VKMp3CY

-Saving Private Ryan- is an amazing film though.

-Beowulf- is cool, likewise the 60s -Vikings- and -13th Warrior- would be good to watch the three together.

Some good films mentioned above but one ive enjoyed and seen recently was called 'man on fire' starring Denzel Washington. And 'goodbye bafana' was quite good too in a more educational way.

'Love, Honour and Obey' one of the funniest, british films in years, although it is a few years old now. Quite enjoyed 'The Last King of Scotland' recently, and 'Blood Diamond'. Two enjoyable films.

Has anyone seen "Dead man's shoes"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419677/

It's a channel 4 low budget film, but I think it's brill.

Bodge

Yes Bodge, a masterful performance by Paddy Considine. I particularly like the style it was filmed in, a sort of Mike Leigh documentary style. Gary Stretch has not worked much since though some of his gang pop up on various stuff on BBC3. Top film, though not your family Christmas viewing!;) Wise choice, in my top 40.

Well Jon if you like King Arthur, you have to watch Domino - superb "no brain required" with the yummy Kiera as a bounty hunter. Mmm mmm
