    Dave Cantebury discussing Dual survival

You find yourself stuck in the wild with no hope of rescue for at least two weeks. Who would you prefer as your survival companion? Dave Canterbury Bear grills Ray Mears Cody Lundin From what I've seen of them all. DC would be my choice every time.

13 years of companionship and unconditional love.

He looks the spitting image of my best pal Ben who died in my arms last October. Heartbeaking, utterly heartbreaking. Sorry for your loss man

Sleeping Bags - More than 1?

I use a Woodlore Golden Eagle for the winter. It's synthetic, around 2.5kg and is bloody huge (takes up about half my rucksack!) very cosy though. For the rest of the year I have a 1Kg down bag which packs down very small. It's over 20 years old and still going strong,,,,ish

    Litter louts - gotcha!

You misinterpret my post mm. I never said turn a blind eye or don't report it. I'm merely trying to say that unfortunately this outcome is unlikely to change the offenders attitude. I think hauling them through court and giving them an appropriate punishment (weekend rubbish picking for the next...

    Litter louts - gotcha!

In my opinion, the only thing the offender will learn from this little episode is not to be so stupid as to leave evidence lying around in future. She's unlikely to change, most people don't after the age of 18.

TGO Challenge 2012 - My Crossing of Scotland

There's no law which says you have to enter the TGO Challenge to have a walk across Scotland. Plot your route and off you go :D Looking forward to the write up Shewie, particularly to how you felt about the lightweight approach and how the gear stood up to the challenge. Well done to all who...

    BioLite Stove with USB port

I see the Campstove weighs 935 grams. In other words the same as about 85 AAA batteries. Seems very smart technology I admit, but I can't think of any occassion I'd need something like this, even on an extended hiking trip. Will be interesting to see how you all get on with them.

    bbc iplayer movie surviving progress

It was pretty good for the BBC I reckon (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01jrlsf/Surviving_Progress/). Good to see this sort of stuff on the mainstream telly (well bbc4 anyway!) Other films of this ilk worth looking out for on the net are:- What a Way to go: Life at the end of Empire Call...

Moan and rant after several glasses of Vino!

If you fancy walking or canoeing anywhere down in England, then just go ahead and do it (obviously avoiding peoples gardens etc). You're not breaking any laws. It's only a problem if you are asked to leave and refuse to do so. Even then it's unlikely the police would be bothered. How many cases...

    I LOVE the rain!

Definitely another rain lover here. I especially like it during the summer which is just as well with our climate! I dislike it most when striking camp. That's when I find it a real pain in the backside.

A walk in the woods with Ray Mears - only 4 places left at the mo

At first i thought, whoa that is a bit steep! Then I remembered that some stupid bint with a funny voice from the X factor or something got £15,000 simply for turning up and turning on christmas lights somewhere. Maybe £7000 for spending quality time with 20 people for several hours aint too bad...

    Strange Morning...

Yes, good effort that man. At least you did something, unlike that absolutely horrendous incident in China just the other day where a 2 year old girl was knocked down in broad daylight and lay half dead while up to 18 people just walked by. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-15398332

    I need a new compact

I've got a lumix fz38 which has very good optics imho. If I was going to get a compact jobbie then I'd be going for a Lumix TZ8 which is great value for money at the moment.

    Latest i-Phone

Overpriced and overhyped. I personally can't stand their closed shop proprietary based nonsense. Hook you in and that's it your caught ( as alluded to in a previous post). They are a company that takes control freakery to a different level. Their products are made to look good and not last (they...

Trolls: No ID no net. BCUK good balance

I don't think a prison sentance was appropriate for what this guy did. Of course it was pretty despicable and must have been very hurtful and offensive to the familes involved. What sort of society would we be living in if they started jailing people everytime someone was offended? Like others...

    Kit you wouldn't recommend

MSR Whisperlight Stove - awkward stiff legs, gets really filthy to handle even using coleman fuel and broke down several times before finally going to the great stove bin in the sky. Karrimor 'err,,outdoorsy' type trainers - absolutely rubbish soles that wear out within a month, tried three...

Agreed! I've learnt so much from many many people on here. It's what makes the web such a fantastic resource.
