Biscuits are - as the name suggests toall Francophones at least, - Bi (as in Bi - twice or double), Cuit ( cooked)- cooked twice.
This would generally be a waste of fuel in a bushcraft situation (unless you want to preserve your cake, which is why biscuits were invented, by driving out ALL the moisture) so cake would be better!
Cake goes hard when stale, biscuits go soggy (see the legal battle over Jaffa Cakes that the EU wanted to class as luxury bicuits for tax purposes).
Bushcraft takes the cake, or, if wanting lightweight, preserved farinous product, the biscuit

For the days when your firebow just doesn't seem to cut it:

"We didn't start the fire" -Billy Joel

For a tail of a self-sufficiency dream gone wrong, have a listen to:

"Pros and cons of Hithchiking" - Roger Waters

For the trail:

"Ramble on" -Led Zep.

Rocky Mountain High

He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin home to a place hed never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door

When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hangin by a song
But the strings already broken and he doesnt really care
It keeps changin fast and it dont last for long

But the colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high (high colorado)

He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say he got crazy once, and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory

Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake

And the colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high (high colorado)

Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land

And the colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
I know hed be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky mountain high

Its a colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybodys high
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high (high colorado)
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high do de do

BOY FROM THE COUNTRY (Michael Murphy) (c) 1969
Performed by John Denver

Because he calls the forest "Brother"
Because he calls the Earth his mother
They drove him out into the rain
Some people even said that the boy from the country was insane

Because he spoke to the fish in the creek
He tried to tell us that the animals could speak
And who knows? perhaps they do
How do you know they don't just because they've never spoken to you?

CHORUS:
Boy from the country
Left his home when he was young
Boy from the country
He loves the sun.

He tried to tell us that we should love the land
We just turned our heads and laughed; you see we did not understand
Sometimes I think the boy from the country is the only one who sees
'cause the boy from the country doesn't want to see the forest for the
trees.

In the Forest - Van Morrison

By the sacred grove, where the waters flow
We will come and go, in the forest

In the summer rain, we will meet again
We will learn the code of the ancient ones
In the forest

By the waterfall, I will hold you in my arms
We will meet again by the leafy glade
In the shade of the forest

With your long robes on, we will surely roam
By the ancient roads, I will take you home
To the forest

In the forest, in the forest
In the forest, in the forest

With your long robes on, we will surely roam
By the ancient roads, I will take you home again
To the forest

Satisfy the soul baby
Birds sing all day long of the mother lode
We can let it roll, in the forest

With your long robes on
I know where you're coming from
By the big oak tree you've gotta come and go with me

In the forest, in the forest
In the forest, in the forest

By the waterfall
I will hold you in my arms, and we will meet again
By the leafy shade, in the, in the forest

Satisfy the soul
Birds sing all day long of the mother lode
We can surely let it roll, in the forest

With your long robes on
I know where you're coming from
We will surely roam, down by the ancient roads

One that just popped into my mind is: Mull of Kintyre by Paul McCartney. I'm not from the Mull of Kintyre; missed by about 3000 miles, however, that song brings a nostalgic lump to my throat every time I hear it.

"outdoor type" by the lemonheads

just for the irony, you know

"i can't go with you on a rock-clilmbing weekend,
what if something's on tv, and it's never shown again

just as well i'm not invited, i'm afraid of heights
i lied about being, the outdoor type"

THe Horse Song, by Mike Oldfield (on Ommadawn)

I like beer, and I like cheese
I like the smell of a westerly breeze
But what I like more than all of these
Is to be on horseback

Hey and away we go
Through the grass, across the snow
Big brown beastie, big brown face
I'd rather be with you than
flying through space.

I like thunder, and I like rain
And open fires, and roaring flames.
But if the thunder's in my brain,
I'd like to be on horseback
Some like the city, some the noise
Some make chaos, and others, toys.
But if I was to have the choice,
I'd rather be on horseback.

Hey and away we go
Through the grass, across the snow
Big brown beastie, big brown face
I'd rather be with you than
flying through space.

Some find it strange to be here,
On this small planet, and who knows where.
But when it's strange and full of fear,
It's nice to be on horseback.
Some are short, and others tall,
Some hit their heads against the wall.
But it doesn't really matter at all,
When you happen to be on horseback.

Hey and away we go
Through the grass, across the snow
Big brown beastie, big brown face
I'd rather be with you than
flying through space.

So if you you feel a little glum,
To Hergest Ridge you should come.
In summer, winter, rain or sun,
It's good to be on horseback.

Hey and away we go
Through the grass, across the snow
Big brown beastie, big brown face
I'd rather be with you than
flying through space.

You know, I'd rather be on horseback.
